MVNU's Dobson Named MCC Defensive Player

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (9-23-2011) - Challyn
Dobson, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University women's soccer team, has
been selected as the Mid-Central College
Conference Defensive Player of the Week for
her performance in matches played during the
week of September 12-18.
Dobson,
a senior defender from Mount Vernon, Ohio,
anchored the Lady Cougars' defense that
posted a pair of 1-0 shutouts during the
week. She helped limit Malone University to
just seven total shots and only two on goal
in a 1-0 win over the Lady Pioneers. Then,
she closed out the week by limiting Urbana
University to just five total shots and only
two on goal in a 1-0 double overtime win
over the Blue Knights.
On the season,
Dobson has started all eight matches. MVNU
has allowed just 12 goals in eight matches
for a 1.43 goals against average while
posting two shutouts.
The Lady
Cougars are currently 3-4-1 overall. MVNU
will return to action and open up MCC play
on Tuesday at the University of Saint
Francis (Ind.) at 4 p.m.
