Three Lady Cougars Earn MCC Soccer Honors

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (11-29-2011) - Three
members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene
University women's soccer team were recently
honored when the Mid-Central College
Conference awards were announced.

Challyn Dobson, a senior defender from
Mount Vernon, Ohio, highlighted the list for
the Lady Cougars as she was named the MCC's
Defensive Player of the Year and landed a
spot on the MCC Team. The former Mount
Vernon High School star started all 20
matches for MVNU and anchored the back line
that posted six shutouts and allowed just 28
goals. She also recorded one assist.
Stacy Culbertson, a junior defender from
Delaware, Ohio, joined Dobson on the MCC
Team. The former Olentangy High School
standout was another key member of the Lady
Cougars' back line as she played in all 20
matches with 19 starts. She also contributed
on the MVNU attack as she scored one goal
and assisted on two others.
Megan
Griffith, a freshman midfielder from Powell,
Ohio, was also named to the MCC Team. The
former Olentangy Liberty High School product
saw action in all 20 matches with 17 starts
and recorded four goals and two assists.
MVNU is currently 10-8-2 overall and
finished MCC play in fourth place with a
5-3-1 conference mark before advancing all
the way to the championship match of the MCC
Tournament. The Lady Cougars are the No. 4
seed at the National Christian College
Athletic Association National Tournament
that gets under way on Wednesday when MVNU
will take on No. 5 seed Oklahoma Wesleyan
University at 7:30 p.m.
