MVNU Men's Soccer Team Signs Uniontown
Lake Standout
written by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (5-14-2012) - The Mount
Vernon Nazarene University men's soccer team
has signed an important recruit for the 2012
season as the Cougars have signed Jared
Milhoan, who will look to further his
education and continue his soccer career at
MVNU.
Milhoan,
a midfielder from Hartville, Ohio,
registered eight goals and six assists while
starting 17 matches as a senior at Uniontown
Lake High School. The four-year varsity
letterman finished his career ranked seventh
in school history with 16 assists to go
along with 11 career goals. He was named to
the Greater Akron District First Team, the
Federal League First Team, and the Stark
County First Team as a senior after earning
Federal Team Second Team and Stark County
Honorable Mention accolades as a junior.
"Jared is a high quality young man who
is going to bring leadership from day one to
our program," said MVNU coach Andrew
Belleman, who is wrapping up his first year
with the Cougars. "He carries himself with a
lot of maturity and strength, and I know
that will filter into the rest of the team.
He is also a tremendous player who fits our
style of play very well as he is always
looking to pass and move. He is also able to
get forward well and should have a chance to
score some goals for us in his first year.
We are very excited to have him as a member
of the MVNU men's soccer team."
In
addition to playing soccer at Uniontown
Lake, Milhoan has been heavily involved in
club soccer with numerous clubs including
the Everest Soccer Club, the
Internationals/Ohio Select Soccer Club, the
Ohio Select Soccer Club, the BOCA United
Soccer Club, and the Lake Soccer Club as he
has been a part of several championship
teams. He has also participated in the
Olympic Development Program as part of the
Region 2 Team in 2011 and the Ohio
North/South Team Selection from 2005-2007
and again from 2009-2011. In addition, he
has served as the class treasurer during
each of his four years of high school and
also as the Marketing class treasurer as a
senior.
"There are several reasons
why I chose MVNU," said Milhoan of his
college choice. "The campus is beautiful and
the people are very friendly. The atmosphere
is very inviting. The school has a strong
academic record that will benefit me in my
future endeavors."

"I also strongly believe in the vision
Coach Belleman has for the team and the
direction of where he wants it to go,"
Milhoan continued. "I'm anxious to be a part
of the program for years to come. When I had
the opportunity to practice with the team, I
felt as if the guys resembled a family. I
think that is a very important key to having
a successful team and I'm very excited to be
a part of that."
The Cougars posted a
7-11-1 overall record in 2011 and posted a
3-6 Mid-Central College Conference mark.
