Cuyahoga Falls Soccer Standout Signs with
Lady Cougars
written by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (5-4-2012) - The Mount
Vernon Nazarene University women's soccer
team has signed an important recruit for the
2012 season as Kristen Davis has decided to
further her education and continue her
soccer career at MVNU.
Davis, a
defender/midfielder from Cuyahoga Falls,
Ohio, registered three goals and eight
assists as a senior at Cuyahoga Falls High
School. After earning her team's Most
Improved award in 2009, she was selected as
her team's Most Valuable Player in 2011. She
was also named to the NOC River Division
First Team and the All-District Second Team
as a senior as well as being selected to
participate in the GASSCA Senior All-Star
match.
"We are very pleased that
Kristen has decided to further her academic
and athletic careers at MVNU," said MVNU
coach Daniel Seiffert, who has guided MVNU
to a 37-23-6 record the past three season
and a berth in either the NAIA National
Tournament or the National Christian College
Athletic Association National Tournament
each year. "She is a well-rounded
student-athlete who is driven to excel in
all that she does both on and off the field.
In addition, she exhibits a great heart for
others through her involvement in
volunteering her time to serve others in her
community."
"As a midfielder, Kristen
is technically sound and sees the field very
well," Seiffert added. "With her size and
strength, she is strong on the ball while
possessing a very composed style of play.
All of these qualities will serve her well
as she continues to develop throughout her
collegiate career. She is a terrific fit for
our team, and we're looking forward to all
that God has planned for her as she
contributes to the Lady Cougars and the MVNU
community."
In addition to playing
soccer at Cuyahoga Falls High School, Davis
has been a part of the Woodridge Premier
Futbol Club (2008-2011) and the OSU Strikers
(2010-2011). She is also a member of
National Honor Society and has been named a
Rotary scholar, an NOC Scholar-Athlete, and
a Top Tiger.

"I chose MVNU for
several reasons," said Davis of her college
choice. "It's a great school with high
academic standards. I also wanted to play
soccer for a competitive team. When I
visited, the campus was beautiful and
everyone was friendly and welcoming."
The Lady Cougars posted a 12-9-2 overall
record in 2011 and advanced to the
championship game of the Mid-Central College
Conference Tournament. They also claimed
third place at the NCCAA National Tournament
in Kissimmee, Fla.
