MVNU Signs Madison Goalkeeper
written by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (6-1-2012) - The Mount
Vernon Nazarene University men's soccer team
has added an important recruit for the 2012
season as the Cougars have signed Nick
Nadler, who will look to further his
education and continue his soccer career at
MVNU.
Nadler,
a goalkeeper from Mansfield, Ohio, posted
seven shutouts in 19 matches as a senior at
Madison High School. For his efforts, he was
named the Ohio Cardinal Conference Defensive
Player of the Year and selected to the
All-District 6 First Team and the All-Ohio
Second Team. He was also an Honorable
Mention All-District honoree as a junior.
"Nick is a tremendous young man with a
lot of potential as a goalkeeper in our
program," said Coach Andrew Belleman, who
will begin his second season guiding the
Cougars when the 2012 season gets under way.
"He has a big frame, good range, and a good
feel for the position. We are looking
forward to having him come in and compete,
grow, and develop in the technical aspect of
the game. We are very excited to welcome him
as a member of the MVNU men's soccer
program."
In addition to playing
soccer at Madison, Nadler played for club
soccer for Mansfield Leiderkranz from
2004-2007 and then for the Mount Vernon
Sting from 2010-2011. He ranks in the top 12
percent of his graduating class, earned
Academic All-Ohio honors, and received a
Madison Athletic Booster scholarship and a
Madison Academic Scholar award. He is a
member of National Honor Society, Key Club,
Student Council, and Ohio Cardinal
Conference Leadership.

"On my visit last summer, I saw that
MVNU has a small but beautiful campus," said
Nadler of his college choice. "I've also
heard that the accounting program is very
well structured and continues to grow. The
small class sizes are also a big reason why
I chose MVNU. The men's soccer team really
seems to be like a strong brotherhood and
that had a huge impact on me. (MVNU) is
close enough for my family to come and watch
my home games, yet far enough away that I
have room to grow and feel somewhat on my
own."
The Cougars posted a 7-11-1
overall record in 2011 and posted a 3-6
Mid-Central College Conference mark.
