Cougars Sign Lake High School Soccer
Standout
written by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (1-16-2012) - The Mount
Vernon Nazarene University men's soccer team
has signed an important recruit for the 2012
season as the Cougars have signed Scott
Feighner, who will look to further his
education and continue his soccer career at
MVNU.
Feighner,
a defender from Uniontown, Ohio, was a
standout at Lake High School, where he
served as a captain and helped the team post
six shutouts during the 2011 season while
also scoring six goals. After earning
Federal League Second Team and All-Stark
County Honorable Mention accolades as a
junior, he was named to the Federal League
First Team, the All-Stark County First Team,
the All-District Second Team and his team's
Most Valuable Player as a senior. He also
participated in the Stark County All-Star
Match.
"We are very excited to have
Scott become a member of the MVNU men's
soccer program," said coach Andrew Belleman
as he looks forward to his second season
guiding the Cougars. "Scott is a smart,
technical player, who can play a couple of
different positions on the field. He is also
a young man with very strong character and
will be a great addition to our team. We are
hopeful that he will be able to contribute
on the field right away, and we are looking
forward to his growth and development as a
player."
In addition to play soccer
at Lake, Feighner has played club soccer for
Boca (2005-2006), Ohio Select (2007),
Internationals (2008), and Everest
(2009-present). He has also been a part of
ODP for two years. He has been active in his
church youth group and a part of the mission
trip team, and he has participated in the
mock trial team for two years.
"MVNU
is a great academic school with strong
beliefs and values that I agree with," said
Feighner of his college choice. "They also
have a good soccer team that integrates
faith in their play. MVNU is a place where I
feel very comfortable and can see myself
living at for four years."

The Cougars posted a 7-11-1 overall
record in 2011 and posted a 3-6 Mid-Central
College Conference mark. | |
