Four Lady Cougars Earn NCCAA East Region Honors

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (12-5-2011) - Four members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's volleyball team were recently honored when the National Christian College Athletic Association East Region Teams were announced.

Lauren Percival, a junior setter from Elyria, Ohio, was named to the NCCAA East Region First Team for the second straight year. The former Amherst Steele High School standout posted 945 assists, 149 kills, 31 aces, 38 blocks, and 374 digs. She also posted a .936 serving percentage and ranked second on the team in digs per game (2.99) while leading the team in assists per game (7.56).
   
Lauren Percival Kendra Votaw

Kendra Votaw, a sophomore middle hitter from Marengo, Ohio, joined Percival on the NCCAA East Region First Team. The former Gilead Christian School star compiled 243 kills, 20 aces, 168 digs, and 62 blocks before a knee injury ended her season halfway through the year. She still finished as the team leader in kills and blocks despite just barely playing in half the team's matches.

Kaylee Hewitt, a junior libero from Alanson, Mich., was an NCCAA East Region Honorable Mention selection. The former Harbor Light Christian School product played in all 125 sets for MVNU and led the Lady Cougars with 456 digs. She also recorded 76 kills, 31 assists, and 21 aces.
   
Kaylee Hewitt Haley Nofziger

Haley Nofziger, a junior middle hitter from Wauseon, Ohio, was also an NCCAA East Region Honorable Mention pick. The former Pettisville High School graduate started and played in all 36 matches and 125 sets. She registered 236 kills and 30 blocks.

MVNU finished the season with a 13-23 overall record and 5-13 Mid-Central College Conference mark.
