MVNU's Brown Earns MCC Pitcher of the Week Honor

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (4-10-2012) - Justin Brown, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University baseball team, was recently selected as the Mid-Central College Conference Pitcher of the Week for his performance during the week of March 26-April 1.

Brown, a junior lefty from Westerville, Ohio, led the Cougars to a 5-3 record for the week as he posted a 2-0 record on the mound with 13 strikeouts in 14 innings and a 1.93 ERA. The former Westerville Central High School standout began the week by tossing a four-hitter with eight strikeouts in a 12-2 complete game victory at Huntington (Ind.) University. Then, he closed the week by going the distance in a 7-1 win over NAIA No. 10 Spring Arbor (Mich.) University as he struck out five batters.

On the season, Brown has compiled a 4-3 record with a 2.74 ERA. In eight starts, he has thrown five complete games while registering 30 strikeouts in 49.1 innings. Opposing batters are hitting just .260 against him.

MVNU is currently 22-12 overall and in third place in the MCC with a 13-7 conference mark. The Cougars will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Goshen (Ind.) College for an MCC doubleheader that will start at 2 p.m.
