Estep, a senior forward from Mansfield,
Ohio, tallied two goals and two assists
during the Lady Cougars' 2-1 week. The
former Madison High School star assisted on
the lone goal in a 1-0 win at NCAA Division
II Urbana University to begin the week.
Then, she scored the first two goals in a
5-0 victory over Cincinnati Christian
University in the first match of the Lady
Cougar Classic. She closed out the week by
assisting on MVNU's lone goal in a 2-1
setback to NAIA No. 24 John Brown (Ark.)
University. For her efforts, she was named
the Most Valuable Offensive Player of the
tournament.
Estep leads the Lady Cougars with two goals
and two assists through four matches this
year. She now ranks fourth in career goals
(54) and career points (123) and is tied for
ninth in career assists (15).
Loewen, a senior goalkeeper from Gravenhurst,
Ontario, posted a pair of shutouts during
the week as she played all 270 minutes in
goal for MVNU. The former Gravenhurst High
School standout stopped 11 shots in the
one-goal win at Urbana and made the only
save necessary in the victory over
Cincinnati Christian. She had four saves in
the loss to John Brown, and she was named to
the Lady Cougar Classic All-Tournament Team.
On the season, Loewen has posted three
shutouts in four matches with a 0.50 goals
against average and 20 saves. For her
career, she now ranks second in school
history with 26 shutouts – just five shy of
the mark of 31 set by former MVNU standout
Krysti Wilson from 2003-2006.
The Lady Cougars (3-1, 1-0 AMC) will return
to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. when MVNU
will host Notre Dame College in an AMC match
at Cougar Field.
