MVNU's Albrecht Named NCCAA National
Player of the Week

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (9-2-2010) - Jackie
Albrecht, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University women's volleyball team,
has been selected as the National Christian
College Athletic Association Player of the
Week for her efforts in matches played
during the week of August 23-29.
Albrecht,
a 5-foot-9 senior middle hitter from
Lexington, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a
4-0 record for the week as MVNU won the St.
Ambrose (Iowa) University Early Bird
Tournament. The former Mansfield Christian
School star began the week with 16 kills and
13 digs in a sweep of Iowa Wesleyan College
and added 12 kills and seven digs in a sweep
of Trinity International (Ill.) University.
She posted 13 kills and 10 digs in a sweep
of Hastings (Neb.) College and tallied 22
kills, 20 digs, and five blocks in a
four-set win over previously unbeaten St.
Ambrose. Albrecht was named to the
All-Tournament Team as she led the Lady
Cougars to a 12-1 set record by averaging
4.85 kills, 3.85 digs, and 0.77 blocks.
On the season, Albrecht leads MVNU in kills
(130), kills per set (4.06), and aces (9).
She has also compiled 117 digs, 23 blocks,
and 10 assists. Albrecht has moved into
sixth place on the Lady Cougars' career
kills list with 1,807. She also now ranks
eighth in career digs (1,729).
MVNU is currently 8-1 overall and in the
midst of an eight-match winning streak. The
Lady Cougars will take part in the St.
Vincent (Pa.) College Bearcat Challenge on
Friday and Saturday. MVNU will face Roberts
Wesleyan (N.Y.) College at 5 p.m. and
Houghton (N.Y.) College at 9 p.m. on Friday. |  |
