MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (10-30-2010) - Jenessa Loewen, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's soccer team, has been selected as the American Mideast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the fifth time this season and the second week in a row as she was honored for her performance during the week of October 18-24.

Loewen, a senior goalkeeper from Gravenhurst, Ontario, led the Lady Cougars to a 2-0 record for the week with a pair of shutout AMC wins. She had two saves in a 1-0 win at Point Park (Pa.) University, and then she closed the week with three saves in a 4-0 win over Walsh University.

On the season, the former Gravenhurst High School standout has posted 10 shutouts and a microscopic 0.45 goals against average with 72 saves. She has also become the program's career shutouts leader as she currently has 33.

MVNU is currently 11-5 overall and 5-4 in the AMC. The Lady Cougars close out the regular season at Malone University on Saturday and need a win or a tie to clinch a spot in the five-team AMC Tournament that starts on November 6.
