Five Cougars Receive NCCAA East Region
Soccer Honors

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (11-24-2010) - Five
members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene
University men's soccer team were honored
when the National Christian College Athletic
Association East Region awards were
announced on Wednesday following voting by
the region coaches.

Highlighting the list of honors for the
Cougars was Kemar Jackson, who was selected
as the NCCAA East Region Co-Player of the
Year along with Jake Schindler of Roberts
Wesleyan (N.Y.) College. Jackson, a senior
defender from St. Catherine, Jamaica, led
MVNU with a career-high 12 goals this season
to go with three assists. The former Wolmers
High School product also played on the back
line that posted seven shutouts.
Cody Snouffer, a senior forward from
Delaware, Ohio, joined Jackson on the NCCAA
East Region Team for the second straight
year. The former Delaware Christian School
star registered eight goals and eight
assists this season while starting all 21
matches.
Chris Allen, a junior forward from St.
Catherine, Jamaica, rounded out the trio of
Cougars on the NCCAA East Region Team. The
former Kingston College High School star
started all 19 matches in which he played
and posted eight goals and a team-high nine
assists this year.

Jake Reber, a senior midfielder from
Hilton, N.Y., was an NCCAA East Region
Honorable Mention pick. The former Hilton
High School standout started all 21 matches
this season and registered three assists
while anchoring the MVNU midfield.
Steve Armstrong, a senior defender from
Mansfield, Ohio, joined Reber as an NCCAA
East Region Honorable Mention selection. The
former Mansfield Christian School product
started all 21 matches and was an integral
part of the seven shutouts posted by the
Cougars' back line.
MVNU finished the 2010 season with a 12-7-2
overall record. The Cougars tied Roberts
Wesleyan (N.Y.) College 2-2 in double
overtime in the NCCAA East Region Tournament
championship match, but then fell 5-4 on
penalty kicks in the ensuing shootout.
