MVNU's Fletcher Named NCCAA Player of the
Week

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (1-5-2011) - Sierra
Fletcher, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University women's basketball team,
has been selected as the National Christian
College Athletic Association Player of the
Week for her performance during the week of
December 27-January 1.
Fletcher,
a 5-foot-5 guard from Utica, Ohio, led the
Lady Cougars to an 88-79 win at the
University of Cincinnati-Clermont in the
team's only game of the week. The former
Utica High School star poured in a
season-high 27 points on 8-for-16 shooting
from the field, a 4-for-9 showing from
three-point range, and a 7-for-11
performance at the charity stripe. She also
dished out six assists, grabbed six steals,
and snagged five rebounds in the win.
On the season, Fletcher has played in all 14
games with 13 starts and is averaging 12.2
points and 2.9 rebounds per game for MVNU.
She leads the Lady Cougars with 65 assists
and 50 steals and she has nailed a team-best
20 three-pointers. She is shooting 39.7
percent from the field (56-for-141), 27.8
percent from three-point range (20-for-72),
and 76.5 percent at the free throw line
(39-for-51).
MVNU is currently 10-4 overall and 2-2 in
the American Mideast Conference. The Lady
Cougars will return to action on Saturday
with a 4 p.m. conference game at Houghton
(N.Y.) College. |  |
