for 2011
written by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (2-23-2011) - The Mount
Vernon Nazarene University women's soccer
team has signed an important recruit for the
2011 season as Tiffany Wright has decided to
further her education and continue her
soccer career at MVNU.
Wright,
a defender from Curtice, Ohio, was a
four-year varsity letterwinner, a starter
since her freshman season, and a two-time
Suburban Lakes League First Team selection
at Genoa High School. As a senior, she
started all 20 matches and helped anchor a
defense that posted a school-record 12
shutouts. She was also named to the Alan
Miller Jewelers All-Suburban Press First
Team and she was a member of the team that
went to the regional finals her freshman
year.
"We are excited that Tiffany has decided to
join the Lady Cougars,” said MVNU coach
Daniel Seiffert, who has guided MVNU to a
25-14-4 record the past two seasons and a
berth in either the NAIA National Tournament
or the National Christian College Athletic
Association National Tournament each year.
"She epitomizes what our program is all
about as she is a tenacious player on the
field and an excellent student in the
classroom. She also possesses a great
personality, has strong leadership
qualities, and exhibits a heart to serve the
Lord and others.”
"As a defender, Tiffany has great pace and
competitiveness,” Seiffert added. "She is a
well-rounded student-athlete who has been
very successful on her high school and club
soccer teams. We are looking forward to her
contributing to our team and to all that God
has planned for her throughout her career.”
In addition to playing soccer at Genoa,
Wright played club soccer for Arsenal from
2006-2010. She has been involved in
cheerleading, track, choir, Key Club,
Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and
Student Council. She was inducted into
National Honor Society and received the West
Point Leadership Award, Star & Lil's Athlete
of the Week, and SLL Academic All-League
recognition.
"There are several reasons why I chose
MVNU,” said Wright of her college choice.
"Not only does it have a beautiful campus,
but it also has the Christian environment
which I hoped to find at the college I chose
to attend. I found the people very friendly,
and I can't deny that the women's soccer
program was a major influence. I love
everything about MVNU and know that it is
the place God has called me to be to further
my education.”

MVNU finished the 2010 season with a
14-8-2 overall that included a 6-4 mark in
the American Mideast Conference. The Lady
Cougars also advanced to the NCCAA National
Tournament after making the program's
first-ever appearance in the NAIA National
Tournament Opening Round in 2009 in
Seiffert's first season as head coach.
