Himes and Swanson Named Capital One
Academic All-District

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (2-22-2011) - Amanda
Himes and Brady Swanson, members of the
Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's and
men's basketball teams respectively, were
recently named to the Capital One Academic
All-District ® IV College Division Third
Team as selected by the College Sports
Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Himes, a 6-foot-1 senior center from
Hilliard, Ohio, currently leads the Lady
Cougars in scoring (18.4 points per game),
rebounding (12.0 rebounds per game), and
blocked shots (30). The former Hilliard
Darby High School star has become the
program's all-time leading scorer (2,141
points), rebounder (1,254 boards), and shot
blocker (111 blocks). She is also two-time
NAIA Division II Honorable Mention
All-American. In the classroom, Himes has
posted a 3.46 grade point average as an
Early Childhood Education major.
Swanson, a 6-foot-2 senior guard from Mount
Vernon, Ohio, has played in all 30 games for
the Cougars this year with 10 starts and is
averaging 4.3 points and 2.4 rebounds. The
former Mount Vernon High School standout is
in his second year on the MVNU men's
basketball team after playing four years on
the MVNU men's soccer team. He is a
three-time NAIA and NCCAA Scholar-Athlete
between the two sports and has posted a 3.83
grade point average as a Spanish Education
and Physical Education double major.
The Capital One Academic All-District ® IV
College Division Teams are selected by
CoSIDA members. Eligible student-athletes
are nominated by their school's sports
information director and must have at least
a 3.30 grade point average and be at least
in their sophomore year. The District IV
College Division consists of NCAA Division
II and III and NAIA schools in Alabama,
Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee.
The MVNU women's basketball team is
currently 20-7 overall and the Lady Cougars
will face NAIA Division II No. 17 Cedarville
University on the road in the first round of
the American Mideast Conference Tournament
at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The MVNU men's
basketball team is 16-14 overall and will
travel to Geneva (Pa.) College for an NCCAA
East Region Tournament game at 7:30 p.m. on
Wednesday.
