MVNU Partners with Stretch Internet to
Broadcast Games
written by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (12-14-2010) - The Mount
Vernon Nazarene University athletic
department and WNZR
90.9 FM have partnered with Stretch
Internet to stream all the remaining home
men's basketball games and select home
women's basketball games for the remainder
of the 2010-2011 season.
"We are thrilled about the streaming as both
an educational and promotional tool," said
Joe Rinehart, the Director of Broadcasting
at MVNU. "Our students are getting hands-on
training in live multi-camera video
production, and it is helping the basketball
team expand its reach to alums and recruits
around not only the country but the world. WNZR
has been broadcasting games on the radio for
over 20 years, but adding multi-camera video
takes our home broadcasts to a whole new
level. It is truly a collaborative effort
between athletics and the communication
department."
"Obviously, this project took a focused
underwriting effort to make it happen, so I
am thankful for the efforts of (MVNU men’s
basketball coach) Matt Moore, (WNZR station
manager) Marcy Rinehart), (MVNU vice
president of marketing) Doug Banbury, and
(MVNU president) Dr. Dan Martin," Rinehart
continued. "I would encourage any local or
regional businesses interested in sponsoring
our radio/video streaming to contact Marcy.
I am also grateful for the facility support
from Denny Taylor, Mike Roberts, and their
team."
So far, Rinehart and his student
broadcasters have aired seven games this
season via Stretch Internet, a
nationally-known streaming service that
specializes in athletic broadcasts at the
collegiate level. All nine remaining home
men's basketball games will be carried and
six more selected home women's basketball
games will also be aired. Through the Game
Central portal (see below) at
http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/mvnu.portal#,
MVNU fans can watch the live audio/video
simulcast of the games and also access
archived broadcasts.

"I really appreciate the work that Joe
has done to organize and implement this
added feature for our fans," said Dave
Parsons, MVNU’s sports information director.
"The quality of the broadcasts has been
outstanding and the ability to go back and
watch a game afterwards is another great
feature. Hopefully, this is just the
beginning of even bigger things that we can
do both with our sports programs and
campus-wide with other events."
