For the second straight
week, Mount Vernon Nazarene University
women’s volleyball standout Jackie Albrecht
has been selected as the American Mideast
Conference Player of the Week as she was
honored this time for her performance in
matches played October 19-25.
Albrecht,
a junior outside hitter from Lexington,
Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a 3-0 record
for the week as she averaged 4.90 kills,
4.20 digs, 0.40 aces, and 1.00 blocks per
set for the week. The former Mansfield
Christian High School star had 16 kills and
11 digs in a conference sweep of Carlow
(Pa.) University, added 16 kills and 18 digs
as MVNU rallied to win at Malone University
in four in AMC action, and then closed the
week with 17 kills, 13 digs, two aces, and
four solo blocks in a non-conference sweep
of the College of Wooster.
On the season, Albrecht leads the Lady
Cougars in kills (461) and aces (42). She
has also compiled 448 digs and 70 blocks.
For her career, Albrecht ranks eighth in
school history with 1,503 kills and 15th on
the MVNU all-time list with 1,422 digs.
The Lady Cougars are currently 29-7
overall and in the midst of a season-high
nine-match winning streak. MVNU is also 9-2
in the AMC and in second place with one
conference match remaining. The Lady Cougars
will travel to Cincinnati Christian
University on Saturday for a non-conference
tri-match starting at 1:00 p.m. with MVNU
taking on NCAA Division II Kentucky State
University and a then a 3:00 p.m. contest
versus the host Lady Eagles. The Lady
Cougars will be looking to top the 30-win
mark for the 17th straight season with at
least on win on Saturday.
