Jackie Albrecht, a member of
the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s
volleyball team, has been selected as both
the American Mideast Conference and the
National Christian College Athletic
Association Player of the Week for her
performance in matches during the week of
October 12-18.
Albrecht,
a junior outside hitter from Lexington,
Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a 3-0 record
for the week as she averaged 4.18 kills,
2.55 digs, 0.55 aces, and 0.91 blocks over
11 sets. The former Mansfield Christian High
School star began the week with 12 kills, 11
digs, three aces, and four blocks in a
conference victory over Cedarville
University. She added 17 kills, 11 digs,
three aces, and two blocks in another AMC
win over Point Park (Pa.) University, and
she closed out the week with 17 kills and
four blocks in a non-conference sweep of
West Liberty (W.V.) University.
On the season, Albrecht has started all
32 matches for MVNU and played in 112 of the
team’s 114 sets. She leads the Lady Cougars
with 396 kills and has also compiled 34
aces, 59 blocks, and 394 digs. For her
career, Albrecht currently ranks ninth in
school history with 1,438 career kills and
16th with 1,368 career digs.
MVNU is currently 25-7 overall and 6-2 in
the AMC. The Lady Cougars will return to
action on Thursday when the team travels to
Carlow (Pa.) University for another
conference match that will start at 7:00
p.m.
