Loewen, two members of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University women’s soccer team,
were selected as the American Mideast
Conference Offensive and Defensive Players
of the Week respectively for their
performance in matches played during the
week of October 26-November 1.

Estep, a junior forward from Mansfield,
Ohio, scored three goals during the Lady
Cougars’ 2-0 week. She scored both goals in
a 2-0 win over Malone University and then
netted the first goal in a 2-0 win at
Cedarville University.
The former Madison High School star, who
has now scored five goals in her last three
matches, leads MVNU with 10 goals this
season. She also ranks fourth in school
history with 52 career goals and 116 career
points.
Loewen, a junior goalkeeper from
Gravenhurst, Ontario, helped the Lady
Cougars post two shutouts during the week as
she stopped all seven shots on goal in the
two matches combined while playing all 90
minutes in both contests.
The former Gravenhurst High School
standout has recorded seven shutouts this
year and has been a part of two others as
MVNU has nine shutouts total on the season.
For her career, she ranks second in school
history with 22 shutouts.
The Lady Cougars are currently 10-5-1
overall on the season and finished second in
the AMC regular-season standings with an 8-3
conference mark. MVNU will return to action
on Friday in the AMC Tournament semifinals
at top-seeded Houghton (N.Y.) College where
the Lady Cougars will take on No. 3 seed
Notre Dame College at 1:15 p.m. The winner
will advance to the championship match to
take on either Houghton or No. 5 seed
Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College on Saturday
at noon. The AMC Tournament champion will
receive an automatic berth into the NAIA
National Championship Opening Round on
November 21.
