Courtney Springer, a member
of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University
women’s volleyball team, was recently
honored when the ESPN The Magazine® Academic
All-District IV College Division Teams were
announced by the College Sports Information
Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Springer,
a senior right-side hitter from Van Wert,
Ohio, was named to the ESPN The Magazine®
Academic All-District IV First Team this
year after being on the ESPN The Magazine®
Academic All-District IV Second Team last
year. The former Crestview High School star
has recorded 287 kills, 71 assists, 20 aces,
55 blocks, and 363 digs so far this season.
Springer now ranks eighth in school history
in career serve reception attempts (2,390),
eighth in career digs (1,643), and ninth in
career kills (1,482). In the classroom, she
has posted a 3.89 grade point average as a
Biology (Pre-Physical Therapy) major.
The ESPN The Magazine® Academic
All-District IV College Division Teams are
nominated and selected by members of CoSIDA.
Eligible student-athletes must have a 3.30
grade point average and be at least in their
sophomore year. The District IV College
Division is made up of NCAA Division II and
III and NAIA schools in Alabama, Kentucky,
Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee.
MVNU is currently 33-8 overall after
finishing second in the American Mideast
Conference with a 10-2 conference mark. The
Lady Cougars will take part in the 10-team
National Christian College Athletic
Association National Tournament on December
3-5 in Kissimmee, Fla. MVNU will face
Southeastern (Fla.) University at noon and
King (Tenn.) College at 6:30 p.m. on
December 3 and Bryan (Tenn.) College at
10:00 a.m. and Northwestern (Minn.) College
at 4:00 p.m. on December 4 in pool play
matches.
