Five members of the Mount
Vernon Nazarene University women’s
volleyball team were honored when the
American Mideast Conference awards were
announced recently.Leading the way for
the Lady Cougars was junior middle hitter
Jackie Albrecht, who was named to the AMC
First Team for the second straight year and
was selected as the AMC Player of the Year.
The Lexington, Ohio native and former
Mansfield Christian High School star leads
MVNU with 538 kills and 51 aces while also
compiling 526 digs and 81 blocks. Albrecht
becomes the fourth Lady Cougar to earn
conference Player of the Year status joining
Wendy Rader (1994), Tara Seiter (1996, 1997,
and 1998), and Shena Beheler (2007). She has
already moved into eighth place in school
history with 1,580 career kills.

Courtney Springer, a senior right-side
hitter from Van Wert, Ohio, joined Albrecht
on the AMC First Team as she earned the
honor for the third straight year to become
only the fourth player in school history to
accomplish that feat. The former Crestview
High School standout has posted 20 aces, 55
blocks, 71 assists, 287 kills, and 363 digs
this season. For her career, Springer now
ranks ninth in school history in career
kills (1,482), eighth in career serve
reception attempts (2,390), and eighth in
career digs (1,643).
Kaylin Austen, a senior setter from
Shelby, Ohio, was named to the AMC Second
Team for the second straight year. The
former Shelby High School product has handed
out a team-best 1,447 assists this season to
go along with 39 blocks, 43 aces, 53 kills,
and 343 digs. For her career, Austen is the
MVNU career leader in assists with 5,505 and
she has also recorded more digs than any
other setter in school history with 1,161.

Sarah Yutzy, a junior middle hitter from
West Jefferson, Ohio, joined Austen on the
AMC Second Team. The West Jefferson High
School graduate leads the Lady Cougars with
143 blocks, while also posting career highs
in aces (19), assists (23), and kills (338).
Yutzy has also tallied 116 digs, and she is
one of only two players to have played in
all 144 sets this season for MVNU.
Caitlin Myles, a junior libero from
Centerburg, Ohio, was an AMC Honorable
Mention selection. The former Centerburg
High School standout leads the Lady Cougars
with 660 digs this year - already the eighth
highest single-season total in school
history. Myles has also served up a
career-high 38 aces, and she has moved into
17th place in school history with 1,329
career digs.
The Lady Cougars are currently 33-8
overall and finished second in the AMC with
a 10-2 conference mark. MVNU will be the top
seed in the upcoming 10-team National
Christian College Athletic Association
National Tournament that will take place in
Kissimmee, Fla., on December 3-5.
