Cody Snouffer, a member of
the Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s
soccer team, has been selected as the
National Christian College Athletic
Association Player of the Week for his
performance in matches played during the
week of October 26-November 1.
Snouffer,
a junior midfielder from Delaware, Ohio, led
the Cougars to a 2-0 record for the week as
the former Delaware Christian School star
scored four goals. Snouffer began the week
with a goal in MVNU’s 5-0 victory at home
over Malone University. Then, he registered
his first career hat trick when he scored
all three goals in a 3-0 win at Cedarville
University to help the team clinch a berth
in the American Mideast Conference
Tournament.
On the season, Snouffer leads the Cougars
with a career-high nine goals and ranks
second on the team with a career-best eight
assists. He has now compiled 17 career goals
and 16 career assists as he has played in
all 64 matches for MVNU the past three
years.
The Cougars are currently 12-5-1 overall
and finished AMC play with a 6-2-1
conference mark. MVNU is the No. 4 seed in
the five-team AMC Tournament and the Cougars
will host No. 5 seed Walsh University in the
first round of the tournament on Saturday at
2:00 p.m. The winner will advance to the AMC
Tournament semifinals to be held at Roberts
Wesleyan (N.Y.) College where a match awaits
against the host Raiders, who won the AMC
regular-season title, at 3:00 p.m. on
November 13. The championship match is set
for November 14 at 3:00 p.m.
