MVNU's Allen Named NCCAA National Player
of the Week

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (11-25-2009) - Chris
Allen, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene
University men’s soccer team, has been
selected as the National Christian College
Athletic Association Player of the Week for
his performance during the week of November
16-22.
 Allen,
a sophomore forward from St. Catherine,
Jamaica, led the Cougars to the NCCAA East
Region title with a 3-1 win over Nyack
(N.Y.) College in the semifinals and a 4-0
victory over Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College
in the championship match. In the
championship match against Roberts Wesleyan,
the former Kingston College High School
standout led the Cougars with two goals and
an assist to help MVNU earn a berth in the
NCCAA National Tournament in Kissimmee, Fla.
On the season, Allen has played in 22
matches and recorded nine goals and eight
assists. He now has 15 goals and 11 assists
in his two years with the Cougars.
MVNU will return to action on December 2
when the Cougars begin play in the
eight-team NCCAA National Tournament at the
Austin-Tindall Soccer Complex. Their
opponent and match time are not yet known
but will be announced as soon as the
information becomes available.
