For the third straight week,
Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s
volleyball player Jackie Albrecht has been
selected as the American Mideast Conference
Player of the Week as she was honored this
time for her performance during the week of
October 26-November 1.
Albrecht,
a junior middle hitter from Lexington, Ohio,
led the Lady Cougars to a 3-0 record for the
week that included a trio of sweeps as she
averaged 4.11 kills, 3.44 digs, 0.56 aces,
and 0.56 blocks. In a conference sweep of
Notre Dame College, the former Mansfield
Christian High School star pounded 16 kills
to go with 12 digs and four aces. She added
10 kills and 10 digs in a non-conference
sweep of NCAA Division II Kentucky State
University, and then she closed the week
with 11 kills and nine digs in a sweep at
Cincinnati Christian University.
On the season, Albrecht leads MVNU and
ranks seventh in the NAIA with 516 kills.
She has also compiled 506 digs, 77 blocks,
and a team-best 47 aces. She has already
moved into eighth place in school history
with 1,558 career kills and she ranks 13th
with 1,480 career digs.
The Lady Cougars are currently 33-7
overall and finished second in the AMC with
a 10-2 mark. MVNU, which has won 13 straight
matches, will host the five-team AMC
Tournament on November 13-14. The Lady
Cougars’ first match will be in the
semifinals on November 14 at 11:00 a.m.
against the winner of the match between the
No. 4 and No. 5 seeds that will take place
on Friday. The seeding and complete
tournament bracket will be released early
next week. The winner of the AMC Tournament
receives an automatic berth into the NAIA
National Tournament Opening Round on
November 21.
