Marion Harding Goalkeeper Signs with Lady
Cougars

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (5-24-2010) - The Mount
Vernon Nazarene University women’s soccer
team has signed an important recruit for the
2010 season as Lindsey Blue has decided to
further her education and continue her
soccer career at MVNU.
Blue,
a goalkeeper from Marion, Ohio, was a
four-year starter and two-year captain at
Marion Harding High School where she started
all 68 matches during her high school
career. She was a Greater Buckeye Conference
Second Team selection as a freshman and
sophomore before finishing her career on the
GBC First Team as a junior and senior
including being the GBC Goalkeeper of the
Year as a senior.
"We are pleased that Lindsey will be joining
the Lady Cougars in the fall,” said MVNU
coach Daniel Seiffert, who guided the Lady
Cougars to their first-ever appearance in
the NAIA National Tournament this past
season in his first year with the team. "She
has gained a lot of experience as a
four-year starter for Marion Harding and has
performed well both there and for her club
team.”
"Lindsey has a strong work ethic with great
drive and determination,” Seiffert added.
"These qualities will be integral to her
development as a collegiate player. We are
looking forward to having her as part of our
program and to all that God has planned for
her throughout the MVNU community.”
In addition to playing soccer at Marion
Harding and for Elite FC out of Marysville,
Blue was a the trumpet section leader in the
marching band that performed at halftime of
the 2007 and 2010 Outback Bowls. She was
also a four-year member of the Harding
Singers show choir and was selected as the
2009 homecoming queen.
"There are several reasons why I chose
MVNU,” said Blue of her college choice. "The
main attraction is the intimate Christian
campus environment. My family and I are
strong in our faith. As a family, we feel
that MVNU is a fit for my higher education.
After college graduation, my goal is to
enter the education field as a high school
teacher or guidance counselor. With my love
for soccer, I would hopefully have the
opportunity to coach a women’s high school
soccer team. Giving back has also been
important to my family and to me. God
provides lessons and opportunities to become
equipped to share life experiences. I feel
that attending MVNU would allow me to share
with others God’s blessings that have been
provided through my studies and through my
soccer family.”

MVNU finished the 2009 season with an
11-6-2 overall that included an 8-3 mark in
the American Mideast Conference. The Lady
Cougars, who have won at least a share of
four conference titles in the past seven
years and have claimed two National
Christian College Athletic Association
national titles during that span (2003 and
2006), also captured their first AMC
Tournament title in 2009 on the way to the
berth in the NAIA National Tournament
Opening Round.
