The highlight of the week for the former Mount Vernon High School star was a 3-for-4 effort with a double and two runs scored during a 4-1 win against Grand Valley State (Mich.) University.

On the season, Gastin is batting .514 (18-for-35) with two doubles, a team-best three home runs, a team-leading 11 RBI, and six runs scored. She has also recorded 84 putouts at first base with just two errors in 89 chances.

Burlew, a junior left-handed pitcher from West Chester, Ohio, tossed a five-hitter in the 4-1 victory over NCAA Division II Grand Valley State. The former Cincinnati Christian High School standout struck out two batters and did not walk anyone to post her first win of the season.

Burlew is now 3-2 overall on the year with a 2.97 ERA. In four starts, she has tossed four complete games and leads the Lady Cougars with 30.2 innings pitched. During that span, she has eight strikeouts and opposing hitters are batting .283 against her.

MVNU is currently 5-6 overall on the season. The Lady Cougars are scheduled to return to action on Thursday when the team will travel to Urbana University for a non-conference doubleheader that will start at 3:00 p.m.
