Three Cougars Earn AMC Basketball Honors

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (3-5-2010) - Three
members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene
University men’s basketball team were
honored when the annual American Mideast
Conference awards were selected by the
league’s coaches.

Robbie Taylor, a 5-foot-10 sophomore
guard from Gahanna, Ohio, was named to the
AMC Second Team. The former Gahanna Lincoln
High School standout averaged 12.4 points
and led the Cougars with 84 assists and 45
three-pointers. He also shot 77.6 percent
from the free throw line (76-for-98) and
posted 48 steals.
Brandon Short, a 6-foot-1 junior guard from
Orrville, Ohio, joined Taylor on the AMC
Second Team. The former Orrville High School
star led MVNU in scoring at 13.9 points per
game and in steals (57). He shot 50.5
percent from the field (143-for-283) and
also handed out 73 assists while averaging
4.4 rebounds.
Bryce Sanborn, a 6-foot-8 senior center from
Dover, Ohio, was an AMC Honorable Mention
selection. The former Dover High School
product averaged a double-double of 11.4
points and a team-high 10.1 rebounds while
shooting 53.9 percent from the field
(137-for-254). He also blocked 10 shots and
recorded 28 assists and 20 steals.
MVNU finished the season with a 13-16
overall record and a 5-11 AMC mark.
