MVNU's Fletcher Earns AMC Player of the
Week Honor Again

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (1-27-2010) - Sierra
Fletcher, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University women’s basketball team,
was recently selected as the American
Mideast Conference Player of the Week for
the third time this season as she was
honored for her performance during the week
of January 18-24.
Fletcher,
a 5-foot-5 guard from Utica, Ohio, began the
week with 18 points and three rebounds in a
69-58 loss to NAIA Division II No. 5
Cedarville University. The former Utica High
School star followed up that performance
with 28 points, a career-high 10 assists,
and six steals in an 85-69 win over the
University of Northwestern Ohio, who
received votes in the latest national poll.
For the week, Fletcher averaged 23.0 points,
6.0 assists, 4.0 steals, and 3.0 rebounds
while shooting 46.2 percent from the field
(12-for-26), 41.7 percent from three-point
range (5-for-12), and 89.5 percent from the
free throw line (17-for-19) over the two
conference games.
On the season, Fletcher ranks second in the
AMC in three-pointers made per game (2.6)
and free throw percentage (83.1 percent),
third in steals per game (4.2), fourth in
points per game (17.9), and sixth in assists
per game (4.4).
MVNU is currently 12-5 overall and 5-4 in
the AMC. The Lady Cougars, who received a
vote in the latest poll, will return to
action this weekend with a pair of key
conference games on the road in New York.
MVNU will play at Roberts Wesleyan College
at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and then at Houghton
College at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
