MVNU's Sanborn Named to CoSIDA Academic
All-District Team

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (2-10-2010) - Bryce
Sanborn, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University men’s basketball team,
was named to the ESPN The Magazine® Academic
All-District IV College Division Second Team
as selected by the College Sports
Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)
when the teams were announced recently.
Sanborn,
a 6-foot-8 senior center from Dover, Ohio,
is currently averaging 11.9 points and a
team-leading 10.4 rebounds as he has played
in all 24 games for the Cougars with 18
starts. The former Dover High School
standout is shooting 56.4 percent from the
field (119-for-211) and has also recorded
nine blocked shots. Sanborn also ranks sixth
in NAIA Division II in rebounds per game and
is tied for eighth nationally with 11
double-doubles so far this season.
For his career, Sanborn has record 585
points and 549 rebounds in 100 games over
the past four years as MVNU has posted an
82-37 overall record. Meanwhile, in the
classroom, Sanborn carries a 3.62 grade
point average as a Business Management and
Sports Management double major.
The Academic All-District IV College
Division Teams are selected by CoSIDA
members. Eligible student-athletes are
nominated by their school’s sports
information director and must have at least
a 3.30 grade point average and be at least
in their sophomore year. The District IV
College Division consists of NCAA Division
II and III and NAIA schools in Alabama,
Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee.
MVNU is currently 11-13 overall and 3-8 in
the American Mideast Conference. The Cougars
are scheduled to travel to Wilberforce
University on Thursday for an AMC game that
will tip off at 7:30 p.m.
