Standout for 2010
written by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (2-2-2010) - The Mount
Vernon Nazarene University mens soccer team
has added an important recruit for the 2010
season as the Cougars have signed Clint
Eutsey, who will look to further his
education and continue his soccer career at
MVNU.
Eutsey,
a midfielder from Mount Vernon, Ohio,
registered three goals and seven assists
while starting 17 matches as a senior at
Mount Vernon High School. The two-year team
captain was a two-time Ohio Capital
Conference Second Team selection as both a
junior and a senior, and he also earned the
Team Above Self Award.
"I have known Clint and coached him for many
years since his U-10 days in the Mount
Vernon Soccer Association, said MVNU coach
Paul Furey, who has posted a 240-158-30
overall record in 20 years with the Cougars.
"Always a competitor and always a learner
and student of the game, Clint brings the
intangibles that help teams win. I am happy
that he decided to stay in Mount Vernon and
I know that he will be well-received and
well-liked on our team and around campus. I
am glad that he saw that MVNU was the best
fit for him overall and I am thrilled to be
his coach again.
In addition to playing soccer at Mount
Vernon High School, Eutsey has played on the
Xtabi club team in the Newark Area Soccer
Association and the Sting club team in the
Mount Vernon Soccer Association. He has
served as a senior mentor and a youth group
leader, and he is active in Fellowship of
Christian Athletes.
"There are several reasons why I chose
MVNU, said Eutsey of his college choice.
"Most importantly, though, it is a small
Christian school that will help me grow in
my faith as I get an education.

MVNU posted a 17-7-2 overall record in
2009 and just missed qualifying for the NAIA
National Tournament after advancing to the
NAIA Final Four in 2008. The team also went
2-1 at the National Christian College
Athletic Association National Tournament in
Kissimmee, Fla.
