Lady Cougars Well-Represented on NCCAA
East Region Team

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (12-13-2009) - Five
members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene
University women’s soccer team and their
head coach were recently honored when the
National Christian College Athletic
Association East Region honors were
announced.Head coach Daniel Seiffert was
selected as the NCCAA East Region Coach of
the Year as he guided the Lady Cougars to an
11-6-2 overall record that included an 8-3
American Mideast Conference mark. In his
first season with the team, Seiffert led
MVNU to its first-ever AMC Tournament title
and the program’s first berth in the NAIA
National Championship Opening Round where
the Lady Cougars fell 3-0 at Lee (Tenn.)
University, the eventual NAIA national
champion.

Jessica Estep, a sophomore forward from
Mansfield, Ohio, was named to the NCCAA East
Region Team for the third straight year. The
former Madison High School star led MVNU
with 10 goals and registered one assist this
season. For her career, Estep ranks fourth
in school history with 52 goals and fourth
with 117 total points.
Mara Hughes, a senior defender from
Pickerington, Ohio, was named to the NCCAA
East Region Team for the second year in a
row. The former Pickerington North High
School standout helped anchor the back line
that posted 10 shutouts, while she also
scored three goals. Hughes finishes her
illustrious career with 12 goals and three
assists.
Jenessa Loewen, a junior goalkeeper from
Gravenhurst, Ontario, was named to the NCCAA
East Region Team for the first time. The
former Gravenhurst High School product
posted a career-best 0.81 goals against
average this season while also notching
eight shutouts. For her career, Loewen has
now posted 23 career shutouts to rank second
in school history.

Angie Misamore |
Nikki Bruscino, a senior forward from
Strongsville, Ohio, was also named to the
NCCAA East Region Team for the first time.
The Strongsville High School graduated
finished the year with one goal and two
assists. Bruscino wraps up her career with
10 goals and 10 assists during her time at
MVNU.
Angie Misamore, a senior defender from
Findlay, Ohio, rounded out the honorees for
the Lady Cougars as she earned a spot on the
NCCAA East Region Team for the second time.
The former Findlay High School standout
joined Hughes on the back line that posted
10 shutouts and led the team with 1,782
minutes out of a possible 1,790.
