Three Cougars Named NCCAA Soccer
All-Americans

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (12-29-2009) - Three
members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene
University men’s soccer team were recently
named to the National Christian College
Athletic Association All-American Second
Team.

Scott Spangler, a senior midfielder from
Pataskala, Ohio, was named to the NCCAA
All-American Second Team for the third
straight year. The former Watkins Memorial
High School standout finished the season
with two goals and a career-high 12 assists
to tie for the team lead. Spangler finished
his career with six goals and tied for sixth
in school history with 27 assists as he
started all 88 matches in which he played.
Kemar Jackson, a junior defender from St.
Catherine, Jamaica, joined Spangler on the
NCCAA All-American Second Team as he was
honored for the first time. The former
Wolmers High School product started all 26
matches and anchored the back line that
posted a school-record 16 shutouts. Jackson
also tallied four goals and two assists and
now has seven goals and four assists in his
career.
Cody Snouffer, a junior forward from
Delaware, Ohio, was also named to the NCCAA
All-American Second Team for the first time.
The former Delaware Christian High School
star led MVNU with 11 goals and tied for the
team lead with 12 assists, which were both
career highs. For his career, Snouffer has
now registered 19 goals and 20 assists with
one season remaining.
The Cougars finished the season with a
17-7-2 overall record as MVNU finished one
win away from advancing to the NAIA National
Championship Opening Round. The team
captured the NCCAA East Region title and
went 2-1 at the NCCAA National Tournament to
claim fifth place.
