MVNU's Fletcher Earns AMC Player of the
Week Honor Again

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (12-13-2009) - For the
second time in three weeks, Sierra Fletcher,
a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene
University women’s basketball team, was
selected as the American Mideast Conference
Player of the Week when she was honored
recently for her performance during the week
of November 30-December 6.
Fletcher,
a 5-foot-5 sophomore guard from Utica, Ohio,
averaged 28.5 points, 6.0 assists, 2.5
steals, and 2.0 rebounds during the Lady
Cougars’ 1-1 week while shooting 47.2
percent from the field (17-for-36), 52.2
percent from three-point range (12-for-23),
and 78.6 percent from the free throw line
(11-for-14). She poured in a career-high 34
points that including eight three-pointers
in a 94-87 loss at NAIA Division II No. 4
Shawnee State University. Then, she closed
out the week with 23 points, six assists,
and four steals in a 63-53 win over Notre
Dame College.
On the season, Fletcher leads MVNU in
scoring (18.6 points per game), assists
(29), steals (23), and three-pointers made
(18). She is shooting 44.6 percent from the
field (41-for-92), 37.5 percent from
three-point range (18-for-48), and 83.3
percent from the free throw line
(30-for-36).
The Lady Cougars are currently 6-1
overall and 1-1 in the AMC. MVNU, which was
ranked No. 29 in the latest NAIA Division II
poll, will return to action on Friday when
the team begins play in the Defiance College
Tournament with a 6:00 p.m. first round game
against Wilmington College.
