Alex Stout, a member of the
Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s
soccer team, has been selected as the
American Mideast Conference and NAIA
National Defensive Player of the Week for
his performance in matches played during the
week of September 15-21.
Stout,
a junior goalkeeper from Pataskala, Ohio,
led the Cougars to a pair of double overtime
scoreless draws during the week against
Cedarville University and then-No. 2
University of Rio Grande in AMC play. The
former Watkins Memorial High School standout
stopped four shots against Cedarville and
seven shots against Rio Grande.
On the season, Stout has allowed just
seven goals in 760 minutes spanning eight
matches. He has registered five shutouts and
a 0.83 goals against average. Stout is also
closing in on the school’s career shutout
record (20) as he now has 17 and counting.
MVNU will return to action on Wednesday
when the Cougars will square off with Notre
Dame College in an AMC match that is slated
to start at 4:00 p.m.
