Jackie Albrecht, a member of
the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s
volleyball team, has been selected as the
National Christian College Athletic
Association Player of the Week for her
performance in matches played during the
week of September 15-21.
Albrecht,
a sophomore middle hitter from Lexington,
Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a 3-2 record
for the week that included a second-place
finish out of seven teams at the Taylor
(Ind.) University Invitational. The former
Mansfield Christian School star posted
double figures in both kills and digs in all
five matches and averaged 3.71 kills, 4.24
digs, and 0.52 blocks per game during the
week. She had 21 kills against both Taylor
and Trinity International (Ill.) University
and her high dig match came with 24 against
Taylor in a win.
On the season, Albrecht leads MVNU in
kills (276) and digs (255) and is second in
blocks (58). She is averaging 3.94 kills and
3.64 digs per game and is serving at a .957
clip. She also leads the Lady Cougars with a
.945 serve reception percentage with just 12
errors in 220 serve reception attempts.
MVNU is currently 13-5 overall and 0-2 in
the American Mideast Conference. The Lady
Cougars, who received votes in the latest
NAIA poll, will be back in action on
Thursday night with a conference match at
Notre Dame College that is slated to get
under way at 7:00 p.m.
