Adam Worrall, a member of
the Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s
soccer team, has been selected as the NAIA
National Offensive Player of the Week for
his performance during the week of September
29-October 5. He was also named the American
Mideast Conference Offensive Player of the
Week for the second time this season as well
as being tabbed as the National Christian
College Athletic Association Player of the
Week.
Worrall,
a senior forward from Blacklick, Ohio, had a
hand in all four of the Cougars’ goals
during the team’s 2-0 week. The former
Gahanna Lincoln High School standout scored
the game-winner in the 85th minute in a 1-0
win at Houghton (N.Y.) College. Then, he
added a goal and two assists in a 3-1 upset
at then No. 20 Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.)
College.
Worrall leads MVNU with 12 goals in 12
matches this season and has scored in every
match in which the team has scored. He has
moved into a tie for sixth place on the
Cougars’ career goals list with 34 and he
ranks ninth in career points with 82.
MVNU, which received votes in this week’s
NAIA poll, is currently 7-3-2 overall and
4-1-2 in the AMC. The Cougars, who have won
three straight matches, will return to
action on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
when they host Point Park (Pa.) University
in an AMC match.
