MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (10-7-2008) - Adam Worrall, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s soccer team, has been selected as the NAIA National Offensive Player of the Week for his performance during the week of September 29-October 5. He was also named the American Mideast Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season as well as being tabbed as the National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the Week.

Worrall, a senior forward from Blacklick, Ohio, had a hand in all four of the Cougars’ goals during the team’s 2-0 week. The former Gahanna Lincoln High School standout scored the game-winner in the 85th minute in a 1-0 win at Houghton (N.Y.) College. Then, he added a goal and two assists in a 3-1 upset at then No. 20 Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College.

Worrall leads MVNU with 12 goals in 12 matches this season and has scored in every match in which the team has scored. He has moved into a tie for sixth place on the Cougars’ career goals list with 34 and he ranks ninth in career points with 82.

MVNU, which received votes in this week’s NAIA poll, is currently 7-3-2 overall and 4-1-2 in the AMC. The Cougars, who have won three straight matches, will return to action on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. when they host Point Park (Pa.) University in an AMC match.
