Jessica Estep, a member of
the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s
soccer team, has been selected as the
American Mideast Conference Offensive Player
of the Week for her performance during the
week of October 20-26.
Estep,
a sophomore forward from Mansfield, Ohio,
led the Lady Cougars to a pair of AMC
victories during the week. The former
Madison High School standout scored one goal
in a 2-0 victory at Ursuline College. She
added two goals and an assist in a 4-2 win
over Daemen (N.Y.) College.
On the season, Estep leads MVNU with 16
goals in 17 matches. She is also second on
the team with six assists. In less than two
full seasons, Estep already ranks fifth in
school history with 38 career goals and
fifth with 85 career points. She has also
dished out nine career assists.
The Lady Cougars are currently 10-6-1
overall and 8-3-1 in the AMC. MVNU will
close out the regular season at home on
Saturday when the team will host Walsh
University in an AMC match at 1:00 p.m. The
Lady Cougars have already clinched a berth
in the upcoming AMC Tournament, but a win on
Saturday would almost lock up a first-round
home match.
