Jackie Albrecht, a member of
the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s
volleyball team, was recently selected as
the American Mideast Conference Player of
the Week for her performance during the week
of September 22-28.
Albrecht,
a sophomore middle hitter from Lexington,
Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a 3-2 record
for the week as she averaged 3.95 kills,
3.00 digs, and 0.90 blocks per game. The
former Mansfield Christian School star had
three matches with 20 or more kills
including a career-high 25 kills in a
five-set loss to unbeaten Shawnee State
University. She also reached double figures
in digs in four of the five matches with a
high of 17 coming in the match against
Shawnee State.
On the season, Albrecht leads the team in
kills (340) and digs (315) and is second in
blocks (79) while also ranking second in the
AMC in kills per game (3.82). She has also
compiled 12 assists, 25 aces, a .940 serve
reception percentage, and a .964 serving
percentage. In less than two complete
seasons, Albrecht has already compiled 744
career kills and 706 career digs in just 234
career games.
MVNU is currently 17-6 overall and 3-2 in
the AMC. The Lady Cougars, who received
votes in the latest NAIA poll, will return
to action on Friday when the team will
travel to Houghton (N.Y.) College for a
conference match that will begin at 4:00
p.m.
