Courtney Springer, a junior right-side
hitter from Van Wert, Ohio, was named to the
AMC First Team for the second straight year.
The former Crestview High School star has
compiled 391 kills, 469 digs, 116 blocks, 56
aces, and 85 assists. She is tied for the
team lead in serve reception percentage
(.958), and she became the 12th player in
school history to top both 1,000 career
kills and 1,000 career digs.
Jackie Albrecht, a sophomore middle
hitter from Lexington, Ohio, joined Springer
on the AMC First Team as the Lady Cougars
had two of the top six players in the
conference. The former Mansfield Christian
High School standout leads MVNU in kills
(564) and digs (516), and she has recorded
45 aces and 126 blocks. She also ranks
second on the team in serving percentage
(.967) and is tied with Springer for the
team lead in serve reception percentage
(.958).
Kaylin Austen, a junior setter from
Shelby, Ohio, was named to the AMC Second
Team after being an AMC Honorable Mention
pick a year ago. The former Shelby High
School product has handed out 1,574 assists
this season to go with 45 kills, 44 aces, 45
blocks, and 328 digs. She is also serving at
a .949 clip.
Gina Porto, a freshman middle hitter from
Tipp City, Ohio, was an AMC Honorable
Mention selection as well as being named to
the AMC All-Freshmen Team. The former
Tippecanoe High School standout has compiled
383 kills, 58 digs, and a team-high 132
blocks in her first collegiate season.
MVNU is currently 33-9 overall and
finished fourth in the AMC regular-season
standings with a 10-4 conference mark. The
Lady Cougars will find out on Monday their
schedule for the National Christian College
Athletic Association National Tournament
that will take place on December 3-6 in
Lakewood, Colo.
