MVNU's Estep Earns Weekly Soccer Honors Again

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Jessica Estep, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s soccer team, has been selected as the American Mideast Conference and NAIA Region IX Offensive Player of the Week and the National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the Week for her performance during the week of September 24-30. This is the second time in three weeks that Estep has won the AMC and NAIA Region IX honors.

Estep, a freshman forward from Mansfield, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a 2-0-0 record for the week as she scored three goals. In a 3-1 win at Walsh University, the former Madison High School star scored the tying goal and then the go-ahead goal. She added another goal in a 6-0 victory over Asbury (Ky.) College to close out the week.

On the season, Estep leads MVNU with nine goals in 11 matches to go with two assists. She has scored seven goals in her last five matches including another one in a 3-0 win at Notre Dame College on Wednesday night in the Lady Cougars’ most recent match.

MVNU is currently 8-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the AMC South Division. The Lady Cougars will return to action on Saturday at the University of Rio Grande with a 5:00 p.m. conference contest.
