Kristy
Brandolini, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University women’s soccer team, has
been selected as the American Mideast
Conference, the NAIA Region IX, and the NAIA
National Offensive Player of the Week as
well as the National
Christian College Athletic Association Player of the Week for her performances
during the week of October 1-7. This
is the second time in her career that
Brandolini has been chosen as the NAIA
National Player of the Week
Brandolini,
a senior forward from Twinsburg, Ohio, led
the Lady Cougars to a 2-0 record for the
week. In a 3-0 victory at Notre Dame
College, the former Twinsburg High School
star assisted on two of MVNU’s three goals
against a defense that had allowed just four
goals all season entering the match. Then,
in an 8-0 victory at the University of Rio
Grande, Brandolini scored three goals and
had a school-record four assists to finish
with a school-record 10 points in the match.
It was also the school-record sixth hat
trick of her career.
On the season, Brandolini leads the team
with 11 assists and is second on the squad
with nine goals. She now ranks second in
school history in career goals (65), assists
(44), and points (174).
MVNU is now 10-3-1 overall and 3-1-0 in
the AMC South Division. The Lady Cougars
will travel to Siena Heights (Mich.)
University on Saturday for a non-conference
match that will start at 12:30 p.m.
