Three Lady Cougars Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (11-21-2007) - Three members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's soccer team were recently honored for their achievements on the field and in the classroom when the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV College Division Teams were announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Angie Misamore, a sophomore defender from Findlay, Ohio, was selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team as one of only three sophomores on the list. The former Findlay High School standout started in all 23 matches this season for the Lady Cougars and led the team in minutes played with 2,079. She was part of a back line that posted nine shutouts, and she also scored her first collegiate goal to go with two assists. A nursing major, Misamore has posted a 3.95 grade point average.

Beth Watkins, a junior forward/midfielder from Mount Vernon, Ohio, was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team. The former Mount Vernon High School product played in 21 matches this season and recorded one goal and one assist. A nursing major, Watkins has also posted a 3.95 grade point average in the classroom.

Kristy Brandolini, a senior forward from Twinsburg, Ohio, was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Third Team. The former Twinsburg High School star closed out her stellar career with 14 goals and a team-high 16 assists this year. She finishes ranked first in school history in career goals (70), first in career points (189), and second in career assists (49). In the classroom, Brandolini has posted a 3.26 grade point average as a marketing major.

MVNU finished the season with a 15-7-1 overall record that included a share of the American Mideast Conference South Division title, the National Christian College Athletic Association East Region title, and a fourth-place finish at the NCCAA National Tournament.

The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV College Division teams are selected by members of CoSIDA. Eligible student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 grade point average and be at least in their sophomore year. The District IV College Division is made up of NCAA Division II and III and NAIA schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee.
