Shena Beheler, a member of
the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s
volleyball team, was recently selected to
the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District
IV Third Team in the College Division by the
College Sports Information Directors of
America (CoSIDA).
Beheler,
a senior middle hitter from Butler, Ohio,
leads the Lady Cougars with 624 kills and
212 blocks this season. The former
Fredericktown High School star has also
compiled 38 assists, 36 aces, and 434 digs.
In the classroom, she has posted a 3.29
grade point average as a Physical
Education/Health Education major.
For her career, Beheler ranks second in
school history in kills (2,708), second in
blocks (949), second in serve attempts
(2,799), fourth in aces (197), ninth in
digs, and ninth in serve reception attempts
(2,247). She needs just 20 more kills and 54
blocks to tie the all-time school records in
both categories.
The ESPN The Magazine Academic
All-District IV College Division Teams are
selected by members of CoSIDA. Eligible
student-athletes must have at least a 3.20
grade point average and be at least in their
sophomore year. The District IV College
Division is made up of NCAA Division II and
III and NAIA schools in Alabama, Kentucky,
Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee.
MVNU is currently 39-2 overall and ranked
13th in the final NAIA poll. The Lady
Cougars, who won the AMC South Division
regular-season title and the AMC/NAIA Region
IX Tournament, will make their first-ever
appearance in the NAIA National Tournament
in Columbia, Missouri, on November
28-December 1
