Kristy Brandolini, a member
of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University
women’s soccer team, was recently selected
as the American Mideast Conference and NAIA
Region IX Offensive Player of the Week for
her performance during the week of October
22-28.
Brandolini,
a senior forward from Twinsburg, Ohio,
received the AMC and NAIA Region IX honors
for the second time this season after
leading the Lady Cougars to a 5-1 victory
over Cedarville University to close out the
regular season and give MVNU a share of the
AMC South Division regular-season title. In
that match, the former Twinsburg High School
star registered a goal and two assists as
she became the Lady Cougars’ all-time leader
with her 68th career goal.
On the season, Brandolini has registered
13 goals and a team-high 15 assists in 19
matches. She ranks first in school history
in career goals (69), is tied for first in
career points (186), and ranks second in
career assists (48).
MVNU is currently 13-5-1 overall and was
ranked 25th in the final NAIA poll. The Lady
Cougars will host the National Christian
College Athletic Association East Region
championship match on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
and will face either Nyack (N.Y.) College or
Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College, who will
square off on Monday. The winner of the
NCCAA East Region championship match will
advance to the NCCAA National Tournament in
Kissimmee, Florida, on November 16-19.
