The Mount Vernon Nazarene
University mens soccer team has signed an
important recruit for the 2008 season with
the addition of Dustin Snow, who has decided
to further his education and continue his
soccer career at MVNU.
Snow,
a center midfielder from Newark, Ohio,
registered 25 goals and 17 assists in 18
matches as a senior at Granville Christian
Academy as he was selected to the Central
Ohio Buckeye Conference First Team and named
the Licking County Advocate Player of the
Year. He also led his team to the 2007 ACSI
state championship as well as a state
runner-up finish in 2006.
"Dustin has had a notable high school
career and has developed into a solid
player, said MVNU head coach Paul Furey.
"He is a hard worker and competitor which
are two main ingredients to be successful at
the collegiate level. Technically, he
continues to improve and will be a good
college player for us over the next four
years. We are glad that Dustin has selected
MVNU as the place he wants to continue to
play soccer at, and I believe he will fit
nicely into our program and our Christian
university.
In addition to playing soccer at
Granville Christian Academy, Snow has
participated on the Newark Area Soccer
Association Select teams since the age of
13.
"I was impressed with several things
about Mount Vernon Nazarene University,
said Snow of his college choice. "I felt
very welcome from all members of the faculty
and staff and the student body that I met.
Most importantly, I was also very well
received by Coach Furey and the soccer
team.
MVNU finished the 2007 season with a
14-5-3 overall record. The Cougars won the
National Christian College Athletic
Association East Region title and finished
third at the NCCAA National Tournament in
Kissimmee, Florida.
