Ben Falkenberg, a 5-foot-11 junior guard
from Wadsworth, Ohio, was named to the NCCAA
East Region First Team and selected as the
NCCAA East Region Player of the Year for the
second straight season. The former Wadsworth
High School star is averaging a team-high
21.4 points per game and has handed out a
career-high 107 assists. Falkenberg is
shooting 47.9 percent from the field
(213-for-445), 43.3 percent from three-point
range (122-for-282), and 91.3 percent from
the free throw line (95-for-104). He ranks
second among NAIA Division II players in
field goal percentage, fourth in
three-pointers made per game (4.1), and
tenth in scoring.
Jadin Thomas, a 6-foot-4 junior forward
from Lithopolis, Ohio, was selected to the
NCCAA East Region Second Team. The former
Columbus West High School standout is
averaging 15.9 points and a team-high 7.9
rebounds and leads the Cougars with 55
blocked shots. Thomas is shooting 51.7
percent from the field (187-for-362), 38.6
percent from three-point range (27-for-70),
and 63.6 percent from the free throw line
(77-for-121).
Connor Gregg, a 6-foot-7 post from
Bellville, Ohio, was an NCCAA East Region
Honorable Mention pick. The former Clear
Fork High School product is averaging 10.6
points and 6.6 rebounds and is shooting a
team-best 63.5 percent from the field
(139-for-219). Gregg also shoots 73.1
percent from the free throw line (38-for-52)
and is second on the team with 44 blocked
shots.
MVNU is currently 23-7 overall and was
ranked No. 22 in the final NAIA Division II
poll. The Cougars have received an at-large
berth into the 32-team NAIA Division II
National Tournament in Point Lookout,
Missouri. MVNU will face No. 11 seed Oregon
Institute of Technology (26-6) at 7:30 p.m.
CST on Thursday, March 13 in the first
round.
