Jadin Thomas, a member of
the Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s
basketball team, has been selected as the
National Christian College Athletic
Association Player of the Week for his
performance in games during the week of
December 31-January 6.
Thomas,
a 6-foot-4 junior forward from Lithopolis,
Ohio, averaged 21.0 points and 12.0 rebounds
as the Cougars went 2-0 for the week. He
also shot 55.2 percent from the field
(16-for-29), made his only three-point
attempt, and went 9-for-10 at the free throw
line.
In a 76-74 victory at Roberts Wesleyan
(N.Y.) College, Thomas posted a
double-double with career highs of 21 points
and 15 rebounds to lead MVNU to the
come-from-behind win. The former Columbus
West High School standout matched his career
high with 21 points to go with nine rebounds
in a 73-49 win at Houghton (N.Y.) College.
For the season, Thomas is averaging 14.0
points and 7.9 rebounds while shooting 57.2
percent from the field (79-for-138), 41.7
percent from three-point range (5-for-12),
and 67.3 percent at the free throw line
(33-for-49). He leads the team with 19
blocked shots and has recorded 18 assists
and 11 steals while starting all 14 games.
MVNU is currently 13-1 overall on the
season and 1-0 in the American Mideast
Conference South Division. The Cougars, who
are ranked No. 6 in the latest NAIA Division
II poll, will host Wilberforce University on
Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in an AMC South
Division contest.
