Connor Gregg, a member of
the Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s
basketball team, has been selected as the
American Mideast Conference Player of the
Week for his performance in games played
during the week of January 7-13.
Gregg,
a 6-foot-7 senior post from Bellville, Ohio,
averaged 13.0 points and 11.5 rebounds as
the Cougars posted a 2-0 record during the
week. The former Clear Fork High School
standout scored 11 points and grabbed 12
rebounds in an 83-54 conference victory over
NAIA Division II No. 16 Cedarville
University to start the week. Then, he
registered 15 points, 11 rebounds, and three
blocks in an 80-72 conference win over
Wilberforce to close out the week.
On the season, Gregg is averaging 11.1
points and a team-high 8.0 rebounds while
shooting 61.0 percent from the field
(75-for-123). He is also shooting 77.1
percent from the free throw line (27-for-35)
and is second on the team with 17 blocked
shots. He has also moved into a tie for
ninth place in school history with 65 career
blocked shots.
MVNU is currently 14-2 overall and 2-1 in
the AMC South Division. The Cougars, who are
ranked fifth in the latest NAIA Division II
poll, will return to action on Saturday when
they will host Shawnee State University in
an AMC South Division contest that will tip
off at 7:30 p.m.
