"Think Pink Night" to Take Place at MVNU
on February 14
written by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (2-5-2008) -
The Mount Vernon Nazarene
University women’s basketball team will join
with over 900 other teams from around the
country to take part in the Women’s
Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) "Think
Pink” initiative when the Lady Cougars
sponsor "Think Pink Night” on Thursday,
February 14, in conjunction with the Lady
Cougars’ American Mideast Conference South
Division game against Walsh University at
5:30 p.m.

The WBCA’s "Think Pink” initiative is a
global, unified effort to assist in raising
breast cancer awareness on the court, across
campuses, in communities and beyond. "Think
Pink” began in 2007 with more than 120
schools participating to make the inaugural
event a success. This year, the involvement
has grown tremendously as teams will
participate during the week of February
8-17, which the WBCA designated as "Think
Pink Week”.
In preparation for MVNU’s "Think Pink
Night”, pink t-shirts are being sold for $5
at Sport-N-Shoes (503 W. High Street) and in
the MVNU athletic department. The t-shirts,
which will also be available the night of
the game, will serve as the ticket for the
event. There will also be free pink cotton
candy and the first 100 people at the game
will receive a free cupcake courtesy of The
Pink Cupcake. A memorial wall will be
available to honor those who have passed
away from cancer or who are currently
fighting it, and several organizations and
agencies will have booths set up with
information and giveaways.
All proceeds from the t-shirt and ticket
sales as well as all donations received at
the game will go directly to help support
cancer awareness and research through the
Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital in Columbus
and other local organizations.
