Amanda Himes, a member of
the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s
basketball team, has been selected as the
American Mideast Conference and National
Christian College Athletic Association
Player of the Week for her performance
during the week of December 3-9.
Himes,
a 6-foot-1 freshman post from Hilliard,
Ohio, averaged 19.7 points and 6.7 rebounds
per game while shooting 56.8 percent from
the field (25-for-44) as the Lady Cougars
went 3-0 for the week. She scored 18 points
and grabbed four rebounds off the bench in
13 minutes of action in a 121-21 win at Ohio
State University-Marion. She added 20 points
and eight rebounds in a 78-75 win at Kenyon
College as MVNU rallied from a nine-point
second-half deficit. Then, the former
Hilliard Darby High School standout closed
out the week with 21 points and eight
rebounds in her first career start as the
Lady Cougars defeated Carlow (Pa.)
University 99-55.
For the season, Himes leads MVNU in
scoring (17.1 points per game) and
rebounding (6.6 rebounds per game) while
shooting 55.8 percent from the field
(77-for-138). She has also registered a
team-high 11 blocked shots and 18 steals.
The Lady Cougars are currently 10-1
overall on the season. MVNU, which has won
eight straight games, will return to action
on Saturday when the team will travel to the
University of Northwestern Ohio for a
non-conference game that will start at 2:00
p.m.
